¡Español Primero!

Standard

This is almost my last postcard! Before leaving, I just want you to know that speaking and hearing Spanish was in no way limited to class periods. The program’s philosophy of “español primero” made me use as much Spanish as possible both in and out of the classroom, by encouraging me to speak Spanish first when addressing staff members, during activities and field trips, and obviously in class! Do you want a proof? Then check out this video!

Spanish class: Ready for “un poco de español”?

Standard

Today’s postcard is in Spanish because I want to show you all that I am doing in my Spanish class. Are you ready for “un poco de español”? Let me know if you have any questions!

Vamos a L’Illa Diagonal a jugar. Buscamos ropa de colores y aprendemos vocabulario de ropa. Nos probamos nuestra prenda favorita y… ¡foto!

After classes, it’s time to play!

Standard

Today has been a very long but rewarding day.

I now understand why Oxbridge says that they have “the world’s greatest classrooms” – there are so many things to learn in this city! I went this morning with my Major class to La Boquería, an amazing food market. We saw fish that were so fresh they were still moving! And, you wouldn’t believe all of the different kinds of jamón there are. Did I talk to you about my teachers yet? I’ll send you a postcard very soon about them. I am sure you also think they’re as interesting as I do!

After spending the day learning in the city, the admin team decided it was time to keep having fun by playing capture the flag! We went to a park close to Sarrià, the quiet and residential neighborhood where we live. I am still tired after so much exercise so I’m going to go rest and chat with my roommate.

I’ll write again soon.

I miss you, and love you.
